Bike-sharing programs in six major US cities experienced a significant 27% increase in annual ridership in 2022 compared to pre-pandemic levels, totaling nearly 45 million trips. The data from the US Bureau of Transportation Statistics indicates that 2023 is on track for another record jump in bike-share usage. New York City’s bike-share system accounted for the majority of the gains, while other major programs in Boston and Chicago also saw higher participation in 2022 compared to pre-pandemic times.
