As part of the effort to make the construction sector more sustainable in the face of the climate crisis, the bioeconomy has stood out. It is in this context that biomaterials arise, that is, building materials derived from living organisms, including plants, animals and fungi. The term that has its origins in medicine has recently been incorporated into design and in 2019 organizers of the renowned London Design Festival named it the material of the year.
