Microsoft Corp. is combining its videoconferencing and learning programs with work-life balance tools the software maker has been rolling out over the past year into a product meant to help companies improve the experience for remote employees.

Citing studies that show some employees working remotely during the coronavirus pandemic are feeling burnt out and miss the comradery of colleagues, the software maker said the product, called Microsoft Viva, is intended to manage those who are working at home. Viva operates as an app in Microsoft’s Teams chat and conferencing programs. The first Viva module, Topics, which uses artificial intelligence to help workers find internal corporate information and expertise, is available beginning Thursday and three more will follow. Coca-Cola Co. and Unilever Plc have been trying it.
