The Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy (GCoM) is the largest global alliance for city climate leadership, built upon the commitment of over 13,000 cities and local governments. These cities hail from six continents and 144 countries. In total, they represent more than 1.2 billion people. GCoM supports signatory cities in defining climate action plans and implementing related projects.
Through its partnership with the Smart City Expo World Congress, GCoM will be facilitating the engagement of cities and businesses with its Business Matchmaking initiative. This supports signatory cities to accelerate the implementation of Climate Action Plans by matching with the private sector. Matches are based on businesses’ relevance to the challenges indicated by participating cities. Cities will receive direct input on technical solutions and discuss financial opportunities. Businesses will meet directly with decision takers from cities and to discuss potential project definition and implementation. All of the cities participating are highly active in the GCoM network and their own local, regional and national networks and have a proven track record of project follow up and implementation.
